I'm reminded of a news article from this summer, when a town cut down all the shade trees in their central square because a few homeless people had pitched tents under them. There were before and after photos of the town square and it was worse than your imagination might have conjured up. The cruelty is the point with these folks. They'd rather destroy their own town than help the downtrodden.
